Amy Ihlan Assumes Staff Attorney Position
On February 28,2024, Amy J. Ihlan assumed the Staff Attorney position at the Board on Judicial Standards.
Ms. Ihlan has both a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota with a specialty in Ethics. She clerked for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and for former Minnesota Court of Appeals Judge Marianne Short.
Prior to joining the Board, Ms. Ihlan worked for Briol & Benson, PLLC as an attorney and for Macalaster College as a visiting associate professor of philosophy. She brings years of experience as a practicing attorney and coillege professor to her new position at the Board on Judicial Standards.
The Staff Attorney for the Board assists in the evaluation and investigation of complaints, provides written reports summarizing investigations, researches legal issues, and assists in providing advisory opinions to judges.
Former Board Staff Attorney Sara Boeshans was appointed Executive Secretary of the Board effective January 3, 2024, following the retirement of Executive Secretary Thomas Sipkins.
